3D Google Maps for mobile

26 July 2011 No Comment

Google’s engineers have rebuilt the Google Maps’ graphics engine. Google Maps 5.0 for Android-powered devices, features more than 100 cities worldwide. At present, only major buildings in the centre of capitals are currently included in the model.

Google Map 5.0 downloads a vector-based description of the area and draws the map itself. The new approach means the app needs to
download a lot less data which is beneficial where mobile broadband coverage is not great.

Features include:- Tilt, Rotate, Compass Mode, Smooth Zooming, Offline reliability, Offline rerouting and 3D building.
